Dolphinholme is a small village in the North West of England situated the county of Lancashire. It is split into two parts, Upper and Lower Dolphinholme.

Location[edit]

Dolphinholme is approximately equidistant from Lancaster and Garstang, being about 5.5 miles away from both as the crow flies. Another large town nearby is Preston.
Dolphinholme is on the River Wyre (which is the boundary between the Lancaster and Wyre districts) and is near the Forest of Bowland. The part in Wyre is designated as a historic conservation area.[1]
Dolphinholme is split into two parts, Upper and Lower Dolphinholme with the latter being to the South of the former. Upper Dolphinholme is indeed higher than the Lower part. The name 'Dolphinholme' actually has nothing to do with sea creature Dolphins but stems from an ancient Scandinavian word.

Services[edit]

The village has a school (Dolphinholme Church of England Primary School)[2], a village hall, a church (St Mark's C of E)[3], a Methodist chapel[4], a pub (The Fleece Inn)[5], a recreational ground, a tennis court[6], a bowling green[7], a garage (Rogersons)[8] and a post office and shop.
