Colleen Hartland is a Greens member of the Victorian Legislative Council.
She won a seat for the Greens in the Western Metropolitan Region of the Victorian Legislative Council in the 2006 State election, held on the 25th of November. She was elected to the final spot in Western Metropolitan, narrowly beating Labor's Henry Barlow, after a dramatic vote recount conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission. She has previously worked as a cook in Parliament during the term of the Cain/Kirner Goverments.[1]
Colleen Hartland was an activist and a leader of campaign against the storage of toxic chemical at Coode Island during the 1990s. She was a foundation member of the Hazardous Materials Action group (HAZMAG)[2].
She was elected as Councillor for Sheok Ward in the Maribyrnong City Council in 2003, and served on the council until 2006[3].
Prior to her election to the Victorian Legislative Council she was employed as a social worker.
