The 609th Air Communications Squadron (609 ACOMS) is a communications squadron of the United States Air Force assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina with the mission of supporting the 609th Air Operations Center. The 609th Air Communications Squadron led the Air Force's communications planning for Operation Iraqi Freedom, directly supporting USCENTAF/A6 in war planning and preparations.[1] The unit formerly had Detachment 1 at the AFCENT Combined Air and Space Operations Center, Al Udeid Air Base.[2]
