Me, Myself[edit]

I'm a non-native english writer. I try to contribute in the rare cases I find errors or missing informations. My my domain of expertise is IT (system admin, databases, security) but I am interested in various other subjects (plants, food, permaculture etc.)

Some people I find inspiring...[edit]

Michael Faraday : Because he came from a modest background, had no studies and made it all the way to be one of the brightest scientist ever. And also: He basically invented the electric motor on a Christmas morning. That's cool. I wish my wife would let me do what I want like that...

Charles Darwin : Because he is perhaps the person who waited longest before publishing his theory. That's science at its finest: Verify, verify and verify again!

Antoine Lavoisier : Because he is one of the fathers of Chemistry, and also a martyr of the barbarism of the masses in the French revolution (Not that I like the monarchy but... )

Louis Pasteur : Having become a reputed chemist he risked his whole reputation to go further again. Thanks to that he found the rabbid vaccine and famously saved the life of an Alsacian country boy. I am myself an Alsacian country boy, so I like that story!

Linus Pauling : As James Watson himself admitted, he would probably have found the DNA formula... hadn't the U.S. prevented him to fly to the UK to see the X-rays from Wilkins. He remains the father of organic chemistry, and a notable peace activist. Chemistry and Peace Nobel laureate (at a time when these were not given to powerful politicians....)

Marie Curie: 2 times Nobel laureate (like Pauling but twice in Physics!). I wish there were more women like that. I should have visited Poland. Perhaps there is something special there!

Well yes I know, only scientists... I like truths!
