I am a critic of the WP policies on references. I believe that accurate and informative articles are the goal, not necessarily derived from the work of others. I have no objection to citing good articles and references when they exist but the rapid advancement of knowledge that we see means that the frontiers of technologies may not have been published in a great many cases.

What WP represents is an example of "the wisdom of the crowd," [1] where many people can contribute to articles and the combined knowledge exceeds what any individual can bring. Requiring that the information be sourced to a small set of people defeats that paradigm.

I just found another impediment. You want references? Some of the very best information in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and related fields can be found in the videos published by MIT OpenCourseWare. They are freely available on Youtube. Oops, it seems Youtube is a dirty word at WP. youtu.be/ ... is blacklisted. The baby thrown out with the bath water.
