From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As the great grandson of Charles Louis Ducommun, the Swiss immigrant who started Ducommun in 1849, I have taken the liberty of expanding upon previous entries for Ducommun Incorporated, providing historical detail and context to a story that some have found of interest. Although serving on the Company's board of directors, the material that I have provided in this condensed history is very much a part of Ducommun family lore. It has not been authorized nor has it been written on behalf of the Company. Furthermore, it is not meant to be promotional in any way.

Many of Charles Ducommun's heirlooms (including the Swiss grandfather clock which was the official timekeeping piece of Los Angeles for a number of years) and other Company artifacts are kept and maintained by The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. A record of the Museum's holdings can be found at www.nhm.org, reflected as Collection 1149 in the listing of General Collections.
