Al Mayo Alfred Henry Mayo, (1847-1924) was a trader and prospector in the Yukon Territory and Alaska Territory.

Mayo was an associate of Jack McQuesten and Arthur Harper.

Mayo married Neehunilthnoh (Margaret) in 1874. They had 11 children. “Neehunilthnoh” means “homebody” or “settled at home.”^[1]

Mayo established trading posts at Tanana, Alaska in 1874 at Fortymile, Yukon Territory in 1888, and at Rampart, Alaska in 1897.

Mayo and his business partners Jack McQuesten and Arthur Harper purchased the New Racket, a small steamboat, from Ed Schieffelin. Mayo operated this boat on the Yukon River.

Mayo died at Rampart, Alaska in 1924.

Mayo River and Mayo Landing in the Yukon Territory were named for him.^[2]
