Cotel [coh·tel] noun

A “Cotel” is an innovative and unique hotel looking to the crowd, including on-the-go travelers, to be a part of a collaborative community where guests share ideas and foster likeminded connections. While on-the-go travelers leverage a mix of social platforms and services that promote compatible connections, so they can extend their networks like never before.

The concept of Cotel was coined by Prodigy Network, and created with the goal of rethinking the idea of modern lodging, through the process of conceiving and designing a hotel concept to better meet the needs of the modern business traveler.

The Cotel presents the guests with the best a local city has to offer, so every trip becomes an opportunity to meaningfully engage with the culture and creativity that inspires business, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and collaboration.

The whole idea of Cotel includes a constant look to the crowd for everything from the design of its public spaces and rooms, to the development of digital platforms to connect the experience to each guest. Similar to its past projects, Prodigy Network’s Cotel uses funding that won’t come solely from large developers, but also from smaller investors through crowdfunding.

The first Cotel in the world, developed by Prodigy Network, will be an extended-stay residence known as 17John located in Manhattan’s Financial District. The building’s designs will feature both physical and virtual components, which are responses to crowd-design, inspiring innovation and collaboration amongst anyone interested in participating. The goal of Cotel 17John is to create a space where the interaction of a traditional meeting or gathering will be transformed into an interactive and engaging unique experience.
