Some Personal Philosophies About WP[edit]

I trained as a physicist, and as such spend most of my waking life wither conducing research or publishing papers. I understand the editing and publishing of cited work intimately. I find that most editors on WP are great, but there is a sense of superiority that I will push back on if I sense it. We have to remember that editing any work is not an act of cold objectivity, but is in itself, as in all human endeavors, a subjective interpretation of reality as it is experienced by the editor.

This is no different than understanding that in physics typically when we measure a phenomenon, the act of measuring in itself changes the properties of the thing. Thus, I will typically push back against editors that I feel are using WP to push a viewpoint. Of course, I am also pushing my own editorial viewpoint, namely, that the best way for WP to exist is to have a fairly liberal stance on allowing information to exist on its platform. My rationale is that over the years, as in natural selection, the information that is important will slowly emerge. To take an overtly reductionist stance to WP is to push an editorial viewpoint that presumes to know what and is not important, and what will be in the future.

But of course, I will always follow WP:NOT! Ricksanchez (talk) 19:30, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
