Dr. Aviv Censor (Hebrew: אביב צנזור, born April 23, 1972) is an Israeli mathematician and a lecturer and faculty member at the Technion. Censor became famous among Israeli students due to his participation in the Technion’s YouTube channel, where he gives math lectures as well as full courses. In 2016 he was picked as one of israel’s Favorite lecturer. And in 2018 received the “Inspiring lecturer award”.

Biography and pesonal life[edit]

Aviv Censor was born in Haifa, Israel on April 23, 1972. His father is Yair Censor, mathematician and professor at the University of Haifa. His younger sister, Keren Censor-Hilel, is a professor Teaching computer science at the Technion.

Censor is married and has three children. His wife, Dr. Efrat Sher-Censor, is a faculty member at the University of Haifa. The family resides in Haifa, Israel.

Academic career[edit]

Censor is an alumnus of the Technion, where he completed a doctorate in mathematics. His dissertation was about C*-algebra groupoid.[1] His post-doctorate was completed at the University of California, Riverside. In 2020 Censor received a senior faculty member position, making him the only teaching staff member to receive such a position in a mathematics faculty in Israel, where such an honor is usually preserved to the members of the research staff.

Censor’s lectures and courses were recorded for the Technion’s YouTube channel. Censor recorded 10 full courses for the channel, on various topics in mathematics. Most of the lectures Censor recorded are in hebrew, but some are in english as well. Each if Censor’s recorded lectures have over a hundred thousand views on youtube.
