SMP Negeri 2 Bandung (or SMPN 2 Bandung, SMP 2, or simply Doea, lit. 2 Public Middle School Bandung) is an internationally standardized middle school located in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. It is named "Indofuropese Vereneging Kubbk School" during its estabilishment in 1948 until the name was changed to "SMP Negeri 2 Bandung" in 1950. It is widely known as "Greenschool" because of its greenish color theme and emphasis on environmental education. It is also known for putting emphasis on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) education.
History[edit]
SMP 2 was established in 1948 and was named Indofuropese Vereneging Kubbk School, although it was later renamed SMP Negeri Doea Bandung in 1950. It was located at Jalan Kalipah Apo during its establishment. However, it has been relocated numerous times since then to Jalan Kasatriaan, Jalan Papandayan, Jalan Babatan and finally to Jalan Sumatera, respectively. Presently, it is located at Jalan Sumatera, occupying the former Urfese Larage School built in 1913 by the Netherlands East Indies government which was taken over by the government of Indonesia during the time of the relocation.
