About Me[edit]
My username is Rudolph.ampofo. I am from Ghana. I am a mission-driven person and I love working on initiatives that improve the lives of people in rural and marginalized communities in Africa.
My learning Journey[edit]
I majored in Business Administration - Human Resources. I have always been curious about the law got into the law faculty in Kumasi, Ghana and got a second degree in Law. I love technology and the positive impact it can have on the world. I never got a formal degree in Computer Science, which I always wanted, so I taught myself how to code and developed a website all by myself. I believe learning is a lifelong process thus I am always seeking new learning opportunities that will help me make a difference in the people around me and in Africa. It is always important to have Africa in mind.
Making a difference with my work[edit]
Like I mentioned earlier, I love making a difference in the lives of people. I started out at an HR firm in Ghana, Zormelo & Associates, primarily working in recruitment and selection. Occasionally, I would work on projects like organizational restructuring and assessment centers. I did some headhunting too.
I had always wanted to contribute to education in Ghana and Africa so I set up my first business called Wings for Life Ghana that designed afterschool programs for kids who struggled in school. Later, we pivoted our idea into providing dedicated services to children with autism and other related disorders in Ghana.
After developing an interest in education technology (Edtech), I set up another company called Craft Education (CraftEd). At CraftEd, we provided support to Edtech companies that were looking to expand their operations into Ghana. That is when I met Eneza Education.
I worked at Eneza Education for about a year as a consultant and then later joined them as a full-time team member in 2017. Over the last 4 years, we have reached more than 40,000 learners in Ghana. We developed technology that allowed us to distribute curriculum-aligned content to students using text messaging.
Why I am here & where I am going[edit]
I really care about the impact my work is doing. Over the last few years, I have been interested in education, knowledge growth in emerging markets and the quality of care and education of African children with Autism Spectrum Disorder; and this is what I have made up my mind to commit my life to;
- Equitable access to education for people with developmental disorders in Africa!
I am here because I believe in the mission of Wikipedia and the movement. I see this as an opportunity to share with the rest of the work autism healthcare and education from an Afrocentric point of view that is neutral and inclusive. I believe that this community will help me achieve my life-long dream of changing the equilibrium.
