Nuclearmeltdown[edit]

Well, all I wanted him to do was refactor his comments about where I used to work and he simply vaporlocked. I wasn't really in favor of him getting an indefinite block, but I think it is justified at this point. Anyway, hope all is good with you.--MONGO 12:03, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Likewise - hope you're not still too steamed about yesterday's foolishness. Re: NU... as far as I'm concerned, he showed his troll colors one too many times for the community's patience and the block was long overdue. Drama is boring. :) Regards. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 16:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

pronouns[edit]

I disagree with your assertion that my take on pronoun usage has been demonstrated to be flawed. However, in the case of this article I've chosen to defer. No need to go on about why. I would ask you in return to truly assume good faith when you read my posts and perhaps to reflect a bit before reacting. Happy to respond though, feel free to let me know how I can help out with the article. Thanks. Gwen Gale 18:40, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. The proper pronoun usage issue is tired old ground. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 19:02, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Date[edit]

Thanks for the inquiry- I'm aware of the date. I'm also about to remove it from the talk page in question. I wouldn't have responded this way were it not for it being not the first time that Sloat had this problem. He needs to get into his head that BLP does not only apply to the people whose political opinions he sympathizes with. JoshuaZ 04:08, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough. I think there's a lesson there for csloat, based on your answer. I honestly think he's got good intentions, etc., but I certainly respect your perspective and your authority in this matter. Most of all thanks for responding in good faith. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 04:20, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

My pleasure - thank you and have a great day! -- User:RyanFreisling @ 04:13, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

A perfect image under the circumstances; I'm trying my best to stay above the fray this time. It's tiring, and I have far more pressing issues going on in the real world to be able to devote my full attention to this. Your support is much appreciated; thanks! csloat 18:48, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

As a vocal and well-informed editor, they're definitely gunning for you. You mustn't give them the satisfaction. Gather your evidence, bide your time, stay cool and don't trip up on even marginally-arguable 3RR's and you'll be fine. You've got the benefit of the strength of your convictions and you also happen to be amazingly well-informed - so your detractors can only reparse the same counterarguments to your contributions rather than collaborate. A history of this kind of behavior is easy to see - so let them accumulate a history while you consciously stay one level 'amped down'. Anyway you know all this but I thought I'd reach out and give you a bit of well-deserved support. Nill illigitimi carborundum. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 19:16, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

uncalled for comment[edit]

"I'm not sure the last time the actual issue under dispute in the article space was mentioned by the editors who cannot resist posting here" [1]. Please consider retracting this unfair remark of yours Elizmr 03:44, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

You will get no drama from me. I will not participate. Good day. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 03:45, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
hey i'm not looking for drama, i'm looking for an apology and deserve one. Elizmr
'Looking for an apology (for my comment) and deserve one' = WAAAY TOO MUCH DRAMA. Please leave my page free of this kind of thing. I must point out my comments at the top of the talk page... I reserve the right to delete threads from this talk page and will do so if I feel you're provoking drama here again. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 04:14, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
With so much drama in the LBC it's kinda hard being Ryan Freisling but, somehow some way, she keeps pumpin out those edits like every single day. --kizzle 05:04, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
With my mind on my edits and my edits on my mind, yo. -- 05:07, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
btw you got me into the sarah silverman show. me likey. --kizzle 05:11, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Wooha! A friend of mine plays in her band. Sarah Silverman's comedy is great and occasionally it sucks - which I find usually means an artist is actively working to uncover something fresh. Unlike your stank ol' self. Peace and chicken grease biatch.-- User:RyanFreisling @ 05:17, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
you ain't heard my shit sista! my shit is oven-baked fresh! --kizzle 06:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Yaknow I forgot you were a musician! You have to post some of your stuff sometime for us to listen to. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 06:46, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
check your email. i sent one over the internets. --kizzle 07:14, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Muddy Waters[edit]

I walked into Barnes and Noble last night and the song was playing, so I guess I have no choice but to return...the gods have spoken :) Thanks so much for your message. Guettarda 14:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm gonna have to go take more flower pictures now. :) -- User:RyanFreisling @ 23:04, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
:) Guettarda 23:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Get anything nice at Barnes and Noble? I picked up a copy of Moazzam Begg's "Enemy Combatant" (an autobio of a five-year Guantanamo detainee) but I refused to use my credit card to avoid becoming an NSA data point :) Whoops - I just became an NSA data point. :) -- User:RyanFreisling @ 23:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Actually we stopped by for coffee and atmosphere (y'know, just being around books). Surrounded by temptation, but I promised myself not to buy anything more until I finish Charles Kimball's When Religion Becomes Evil (signed copy, picked it up when I heard him speak a two weeks ago).
Speaking of the NSA, and since I almost never spend cash these days...wouldn't it be cool if you could get them to analyse your spending habits and have them send out alerts when you are wasting too much of your money on frivolities? Guettarda 23:34, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
I knew that title was familiar - I have that book as well but haven't cracked it yet. You've inspired me to put it in my beach reading section for this summer! -- User:RyanFreisling @ 02:59, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
I ended up breaking my rule and buying Monkey Girl by Edward Humes...bought it on Saturday, finished it on Sunday. It was a really good read, although parts were quite disturbing. Guettarda 04:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Wow - I guess it was a good read! I'm similar to you in that when I'm into a 'good read' I'll sometimes polish the book off in mere hours. I've been doing a lot of reading for my poli-sci class lately and so I've been more 'actively' involved (my hiliter pens are getting quite a workout!) than in a good, deep read. Last summer I did the Enron 'Smartest Guys' book in a lovely sunny beach weekend. I'll have to check out 'Monkey Girl', since disturbing reading is excellent for late nights out at the beach house, all alone... :) :) -- User:RyanFreisling @ 04:39, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Forgot to mention - my favorite 'repeat read' for the beach is either Thoreau's 'Walden' or DeToqueville's 'Democracy in America' - both of them are kind of 'open to any page and dive back in' material for me. Begg's book (Enemy Combatant) is very intense and comes from a very unique perspective - exactly the kind of book I like to leave around the house for others to discover. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 04:44, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
Beach house. Yeah, I forgot where you are forced to spend your summers. Haven't seen the Atlantic since 2004. Really sucks to find yourself stuck in the middle of a continent. Enemy Combatant sounds interesting, but I don't know if a foreigner living in the US should be seen reading something like that (especially if their last name was a Muslim name before the British mangled it when they wrote it down >100 years ago) Guettarda 04:54, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment[edit]

I dont know exactly how or when I pissed in your cornflakes, but this is the epitome of pettiness. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 23:20, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

No, edit warring is petty. I urge you to look at your elapsing probation not as license to engage in renewed edit warring and revert warring, but as a guideline for how to continue to conduct yourself (more 1RR than 3RR, more 'talk' page resolution). It's not petty and it's not personal to bring the community's attention to an existing ArbCom probation for your edit warring when you've been reported for 3RR. Last, I would point out that you maintain links to a few of my posts on your user/talk pages, whereas I deleted your links weeks ago after you and I were no longer engaged in acrimonious debate on Military Commissions Act. I would be glad to see you delete those links from your page. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 23:33, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
Somehow I doubt you take such an interest in the behavior of all Wikipedians they way you seem to take an interest in the behavior of a "select few". AS for deleting the links on my page, I would be glad had I not been forced to put them there in the first place. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 00:09, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
I deleted yours, after they were no longer of use to me. No one 'forces' anyone to do anything here, so you're just as welcome as ever to do as you will. -- User:RyanFreisling @ 00:28, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
I am glad I have your approval. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 12:57, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
