Israel Centeno is a Venezuelan novelist and editor, living in Pittsburgh, PA.

Background[edit]

Israel was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1958. The publication of his novel "El Complot" (The Conspiracy) in 2002 riled up supporters on Chavez, causing him to lose his job and his home. He was force to flee Venezuela in exile, leaving behind his wife and two daughters. [1]

He currently lives in Pittsburgh as a writer-in-residence with City of Asylum/Pittsburgh. He also is a columnist of Sampsonia Way Magazine, where he "reflects on my questions of exile, writing, and the human condition." [2]
