vDOS

vDos is a Windows program to run 16-bit DOS applications in 32 or 64-bit Windows systems such as Windows XP/7/8/10. vDOS is similar to DOSbox[1] with the additional ability to access all hardware devices, ports, TTF fonts, via the Windows operating system[2]

vDOS is available for free download under the GNU General Public License.[3] Users on Sourceforge have been able to get vDOS running on OS X, although this is not officially listed as a vDOS ability.

vDOS is able to run multiple DOS applications, each with its own specific configuration; each can print to Windows-only (GUI) printers, or to virtual printers for producing PDF output. The file system of the DOS application is in sync with that of Windows, with no internal disk-caching leading to corrupted files. vDOS offers a replacement of traditional Config.sys and Autoexec.sys files by similar config.txt and autoexec.txt files. Network support is built-in with file-and record locking. Users are able to copy/paste text from Windows to DOS and vice versa; even translation of localized text is available.
