C-Scripture at Platform 9 (2019)

Early Life[edit]

Michael Chiphwanya (born on 5th June 1994) better known as C-Scripture is a Malawian artist. With a great passion for music Michael developed interest in poetry and literature and at a young age of 8 he began attempting to write his own works. Inspired by the 90's Hip-Hop legend Tupac Shakur, Michael became a Hip-Hop fanatic and absorbed himself in the genre by exploring its history and for Michael it became more of a lifestyle than mere lyrics.

Music[edit]

Michael recorded his first song at age 12 with a local Hip-Hop group in Blantyre then known as "CORAG ARMY" and for 3 years he was part of these group which included artists; Genetix-1, DQ (Diamond Quality), KNJ & Inkosi. In 2009, Michael decided to leave the group after committing his life to Jesus Christ and was that same year taken onto "Ephsix11 Ministries" along side Malawi's own "Lecrae", Gosple. C-Scripture was briefly part of Nyali Muzik in the 2010 through early 2011.

Career[edit]

C-Scripture's first solo project was "Before Grace" which was originally a mixtape but due to lack of funds and other inconveniences was released as an "Extended Play (EP)" on 29 August 2011. The project brought attention to the young artist in his home country with songs like "Faith", "Stay Back", "Tha Streetz" & "Light A Fire". December 29, 2012. C-Scripture released "Just To Let You Know" his 9 Track project which was received with positive reviews both in Malawi and across Southern-Central Africa, with songs "Just To Let You Know", "Tell em[Fire]", and "Twilight" being favorites.

In 2017, C-Scripture released his first album titled South of Heaven which had a good reception and was Malawi's first digital release of an album. The album featured Perfect Marvel, Third Eye and Regina Mwanza as some of the few notable names. On March 11th, 2020, C-Scripture released Sketchy Notepad which was his second album and it had no features. This tape solidified his place in Malawian hip-hop. The album featured the majority production from resident producer Divine Sense. C-Scripture is set to release his third studio album titled The Third Letter on April 6th, 2020. The album is said to feature Malawian legends including Young Kay, GD of the Dare Devils, Ace Dirty, Jah Rhyno and Luzio.
