No vull pagar ... No vull pagar (in Catalan : "I don't want to pay") is a civilian campaign against the toll-roads in the Catalan Countries. It started off in Catalonia on March 29th, 2012 and rapidly spread through the Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands.

Origins[edit]

On March 29th, 2012, Josep Casadellà i Turon, from Anglès (la Selva, Catalonia) decided he did not want to pay a highway toll on the AP7 highway and recorded the whole event with his camera before uploading it to YouTube. This event attracted dozens of followers by the following week after the video was posted, who also recorded their denial and uploaded it on YouTube. This led to the creation of the civilian platform of Plataforma Ciutadana Novullpagar (in Catalan "Civilian Platform Idon'twanttopay")

The first notable affiliate to the Campaign was the political party of Solidaritat Catalana per la Independència, then followed by Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya and the Candidatures d'Unitat Popular. Jordi Cañas, MP of Ciutadans, explained on the 25th of April that Abertis (the owner of the Catalan toll-road system) had summoned the members of the Territorial & Sustainability Comission for the Parliament of Catalonia to an urgent meeting to address the situation.
