User:Shardsofmetal/My Status

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thank you for your interest in my online status. I am currently marked as Offline. However, there are a few things you should know.

Online[edit]

Even if it shows that I am online, I can not guarantee that I really am. Of course, somebody else could have marked me as online. But more likely I had to take a phone call. I have a 56k dial-up connection, with an internet answering machine, which gives me the opportunity to take a call. Taking a call disconnects me from the internet immediately, without giving me a chance to update my Wikipedia status. It is safe to say that if you send me a message, and I don't reply within 30 minutes, that I am busy or offline. See below for instructions on changing my status.

Busy[edit]

Just becuase I don't respond to a message within 30 minutes does not guarantee that I am offline. I might just be burried in Wikipedia work. I might not reload any pages for that time, or I might be waiting until I finish my current project before I answer any comments. However, since it is not able to tell if I am busy or offline, please do not change my status to Busy. It is okay to report me as offline in place of busy, but not the other way around. If my status is busy, please do not change it. The only exception is if somebody else changed it. If the last edit made to the page was not by me, and it says "Busy", then please change it to "Offline".

Changing my status[edit]

If I am marked online, or have been marked busy by another user, please change my status to offline. To do this, please User:Shardsofmetal/Status. This page can only contain 3 values:

  • Online
  • Busy
  • Offline

Please never mark me busy. I would rather be marked offline by other users. If I am really busy and not offline, I will change it back. Also, if the page history at User:Shardsofmetal/Status shows that I was not the last user to edit the page, and I am marked busy, please mark me offline by editing the page to only contain the text Offline. The capital first letter is very important, the word is case sensitive. Please send any questions and feedback to my main talk page.
