The North Carolina Poetry Society is a literary organization founded in 1932.
History[edit]
The society was first formed in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1932. The first president of the organization was Zoe Kincaid Brockman, a poet and editor from Gastonia, North Carolina.
In 2013, another poetry association called the Poetry Council of North Carolina disbanded after 61 years. It gave its financial and physical assets to the NC Poetry Society. The former organization's collection of over 1000 books is now housed in the Corriher-Linn-Black Library on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.[1][2]

Meetings[edit]
Membership meetings are held three times per year at the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities in Southern Pines, NC.[3]
Awards[edit]
The society gives out several awards for poems annually in both adult and student categories, most notably the Poet Laureate Award chosen from among 10 finalists by the North Carolina Poet Laureate.[4]
All award-winning poems along with runners up and honorable mentions are published by the society in their annual Pinesong anthology.
