Ivan Ramadan[edit]

Ivan Ramadan (born September 22,1985) is a Bosnian filmmaker, known for making short animated films[1][2]. His film Torenatia (2008) was the first 3D animated film produced in Bosnia and Herzegovina[3].

Early life[edit]

Ivan Ramadan was born in Zagreb. He is the son of Ljiljana Pavlović and Hajrudin Ramadan. Ramadan was raised in Sarajevo, where he had finished high school and graduated architecture at the University of Sarajevo. From his early years he was interested in drawing and animation. In 1995, in post-war Sarajevo Jean-Luck Sloc[4], Belgian producer, organised an animation workshop for children[5], where Ramadan made his first 2D animated film „Svjetlo i sjene“, which was screened that year at Sarajevo Film Festival. Since then animation played an important role in his life.

Career[edit]

Ramadan started making animated films at the age of 10[6] (Svjetlo i sjene). After gathering experince in series of small projects (animations for TV, jingles and animation for advertisement) in 2007 Ramadan stared working on a pilot project called „Ptice kao mi“[7]. Right after that, in 2008, he made his first independent short animated film Tolerantia[8], which achived a great international success, and became the first 3D animated film in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ramadan's second film, Wondermilk (2010), was produced by Radio-Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina[9]. The film was their representative on INPUT Conference of the public TV services in Seoul, South Korea.

Kyamet[10] (2011), Ramadan's third film, acquired great international success, and was shown at the animation film festival, Anima Mundi Brazi In this short film Ramadan combines animation with live action sequences.

In collaboration with animation directors from 5 different countries Ramadan participated in creation of an animated omnibus film "Watching the Ball“ (2014).[11] Ramadan was also in charge of the special effects in the feature film Sabina K. (2015).[12]

His latest film Aždaja, represents combination of 3D animation and live action sequences. Aždaja was produced by Prime Time production company. Aždaja will premiere in 2016[13].

Aside from making short animated films, Ramadan has developed several online games. He is the co-founder of AI Interactive, game development company behind online games such as Dragon of Bosnia[14], Trivaders and JuJu frog.
