The Quad is a network of proposed four classic TV cable channels, each showing programming from a particular decade, owned and run by the Quad Media Partners, Inc. The network's main cable competitor is TV Land.[1]

History[edit]

Zeus Media Partners, Inc. was incorporated on April 23, 2013.[2][1] Zeus Media Partner's network was announced in May 2013 as the Zeus channels by Garth Ancier with the hiring of Diane Robina, Alan Goodman and Michael Ross. Robina and Goodman were involved with TV Land and its predecessor block on Nick, Nick at Nite, respectively and will handle content acquisition and creative and marketing respectively. While Ross followed Ancier over from BBC America business affairs to become Zeus chief operating officer and Chief financial officer. Zeus Media planned to launch the network in the second quarter 2014.[1]

Zeus Media Partners and the Zeus network later changed their name to Quad Media Partners and The Quad.[3] as Zeus/Quad Media registered the trademark on July 2, 2013.[4]

Channels[edit]

Modeled after Sirius XM’s satellite radio channels that play song based on the decade released, The Quad will consist of four channels consecutively numbered and each featuring shows from a decade. The decades being the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. The network of channels is free to carriers and will be advertising supported.[1] Quad channels are expecting to run in high definition the classic shows and have cross promoting roadblock at the top of the hour indicating the show up next on all four. The company is in discussion with the syndication arms of TV studios CBS Television Distribution, Sony Pictures Television, 20th Television, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, NBC, Disney–ABC Domestic Television, Warner Bros. Television and The Carsey-Werner Company for programming that is expected to cost $50 million per year. [5]
