Prasanthy Chowara (born 28 December 1963) is a Malayalam poet and writer from Kerala, India. She was born in North Paravoor, Ernakulam district, Kerala, as the daughter of Kumaran, a retired headmaster, and Priyamvadha. She completed her schooling and college education at S. N. M High School and K.B.M College in North Paravoor, Kerala, India.
She married in Chowara, a small town near Aluva in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. At the suggestion of her father-in-law, she began using the name "Prasanthy Chowara" in memory of the renowned journalist late Chowara Parameswaran,who also known as Chowara Gandhi.
