The band was formed in Kraków (Poland) in 2005. All members were previously part of many other bands but Hipgnosis is something exceptional for them and it’s a kind of rebirth to anyone within the band. During shows, all of them are focused on playing and creating a special atmosphere, so there aren’t many stage talks.

“SKY IS THE LIMIT” was created between March and September 2005. Artists wanted to have full control of their music and all its financial aspects, so they’ve decided not to sign a contract with Universal Music Poland.

On the 1st October 2007, “STILL UMMADELLING” was released and was recorded during live concert for Radio Kraków. Song “Wherever The Angels Fall” was also a part of this album and was recorded separately in studio. The whole “STILL UMMADELLING” is a combination of many versions of rock and it includes also a Pink Floyd song “Careful With That Axe, Eugene.”

On the 18th of July 2008, band played during NIGHT OF THE PROG III, LORELEY festival and was warmly welcomed by the audience. They shared stage with big artists like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze & Lisa Gerrard, Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Fish, Pain Of Salvation and many more.

In 2011, the band released their third album called “RELUSION”. It was inspired by the book The God Delusion, written by Richard Dawkins. RELUSION was highly rated in many of the music lists in Poland, mainly on Program III of the Polish public Radio, where album managed to achieve 5th place in the world, the highest from all the Polish publishing houses.

During yearly Progressive Music Festival in Gniewkowo (now in Toruń), association of independent initiative “PROGRES”, awarded RELUSION with a title of Progressive Album of 2011 and the prize RoRo Roszaka.

Another year was a co-operation with famous artist Tomasz Sętowski, who is well known as a painter of magical realism style. His painting “Two Worlds” was used as a cover for RELUSION. Thanks to this work, Hipgnosis played a unique concert in Sętowski gallery and released a special box with whole discography and the album with Sętowski paintings.

The band’s 10th anniversary was celebrated with release of 4-DVD pack called “LIFE PLAYS NO ENCORES – Concertos and Non-Symphonies for a space rock band – Box Of Official Bootlegs”. It includes 1 DVD with two full concerts: one performed in Radio Kraków on 27th of March 2011 together with Belgian band – Quantum Fantay and the second concert, recorded on camera and played at the NIGHT OF THE PROG III in Germany on 18th July 2008. The rest of DVDs includes a lot of recordings from various concerts and shows that band gave during all those 10 years of activity.

Currently, band is working in a studio on a new album called "VALLEY OF THE KINGS" that will contain 96 minutes of music on 2 CDs. This will be another coherent story and this time about the life of a man from birth to ... right, to where? Death, or longer ...? Or maybe it depends only on what we believe? Planned premiere – November 2021. The music will be released on CD and maybe on vinyl, but it will not be available on most streaming portals, because the musicians consciously do not want to support unfair treatment of Artists these days.
