user:24.0.91.81 is very likely a sock/alternate IP for user:CantStandYa/user:155.84.57.253/category:Wikipedia:Suspected sockpuppets of Shran. This user has a long history of using socks. His edits are often positive, but he is also often combative, and he uses the socks to edit the same articles, which is an abuse of consensus. -Will Beback 19:00, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Could there be two different editors here? Despite both using 24.0.91.81, and despite overlapping edits, these may indeed be two editors, "CantStandYa/Shran", and "Anon Texan". Thoughts? -Will Beback 10:21, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes sure, although there seemingly are connections, there is no smoking gun connecting 24.0.91.81 to the Anon Texan. -- Stbalbach 16:27, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and here I thought that was the main connection. Other overlapping edits are to unusal topics like Kwanzaa and 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. However in the case of Kwanzaa I think Shran is interested in it as an invented holiday similar to Festivus, while Anon is interested in it as the invention of Ron Karenga. Unless any of the Shran usernames actually used Anon Texan IPs, (and I've asked about that), then there may be an error here and the two editors should be treated separately. -Will Beback 21:34, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for finally understandng this point - I am not shran. And while I do not like being called "anon texan", neither do I like being slandered and vilified wrongly. As for my edits, please judge them on the merits. I will and do dialog an all talk pages of articles I edit. If you have a problem with me, talk me with on the talk page of the article page in questions. I prefer to have no account but if asked, I will admit to any edits I have made. There is no effort to deceive here - rather, there is simply a very strong commitment to privacy. Please respect me and I will respect all of you in return. Thanks.

Your behavior has apparently included falsifying your IP address in signatures, edit warring on articles, and vandalism. Though you are apparently not Shran, it would be better if you obtained a single identity and stuck with it. Usernames provide more privacy rather than less. I'll split the incident reports at WP:AN/I and add the Anon Texan material at the end so it can be considered by the community separately. -Will Beback 02:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Also include multiple IP's to get around the 3RR rule. And I think there's a sock puppet rule about regular editors need to login with an account. The notion of increased "privacy" has no merit, in fact just the opposite, it's easier to determine this persons identity with IP numbers - if they had an actual login ID, we would have no idea they were from the Houston area of Texas, only a very few select admins have the ability to trace IP's back to userids. But since this person refuses to get an account, it's extremely easy to trace back who it is with reverse IP lookup. If you want privacy, sign up for an account. If you want to hide your edit history across dozens of anon IP accounts so you can game the rules of Wikipedia and its open reputation system, than you will run afoul of trouble. -- Stbalbach 04:01, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

While researchng it I saw many instances of poor editing behavior, by I didn't record all of the diffs. It sounds like there is enough evidence to bring this to AN/I. Big Daddy777 is a banned user, so it is a serious allegation. -Will Beback 03:29, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not quite so sure about the bigdaddy part anymore, according to ip.whois, BD, or at least his ip, was from michigan--64.12.116.65 03:34, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
If you become more sure than let's raise the issue. It sounds like there is more evidence that "anontexan" may be "Merecat". If so, it will make that user easier to deal with. -Will Beback 03:38, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Per RFCU, Merecat is the Anon Texan. I suggest consolidating the sock tags for Rex, Merecat and Anon Texan. Thatcher131 19:58, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
