From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

After years of freeloading as a Wikipedia user I've finally decided to become a contributor. I'm really impressed with the amount of thought which has gone into the design and policies of Wikipedia. Some of it could be useful on other Internet sites, e.g. the page on dispute resolution. Excellent! I just hope I don't have to put it to use. So far, so good.

I have to admit that when I first heard about Wikipedia I wasn't impressed. How could an encyclopedia created by any bozo who comes in off the street have any value? Over the years, though, I've found myself using it more and more when I've wanted to know something about a topic and didn't need 100% accuracy. If I do need 100% accuracy Wikipedia can still be a useful starting point for further research.

I frequently read non-fiction books which I borrow from the local library. My current book is Fred Goodman's 2015 biography of Allen Klein, so I've spent the last couple of days working on the Allen Klein Wikipedia page, with a few edits to related pages. My plan is to do the same thing with other books that I read: update the associated Wikipedia pages with information from each book. Strawberry4Ever (talk) 05:00, 13 December 2015 (UTC)
