Living raptors are cryptids, that resemble the prehistoric dromaeosaurids, in appearance. These creatures have been sighted in North and South America. There have been several sightings. These sightings have mainly taken place in the Southern United States, and in Northern Chile.
Description[edit]
Most of the reports describe creatures that look very similar to the extinct deinonychosaurs. These creatures are reported to have a relatively large head, with sharp, serrated teeth, two short arms, a stiff tail, and powerful legs, with an enlarged, scythe-like claw, on each of the feet. However, unlike the prehistoric deinonychosaurs, none of the reports describe feathers, on any of these creatures. Therefore, because palaeontologists now know that deinonychosaurs were covered in feathers, these cryptids cannot possibly be surviving deinonychosaurs. However, they could also be a different type of theropod, which has independently evolved a sickle-shaped second toe claw.
