ENV was an early manufacturer of aircraft engines, their first model appearing in 1908. ENV engines were used by several pioneer aircraft builders and were produced in both France and the UK until about 1914.

The company[edit]

The London and Parisian Motor Co. was an Anglo-French venture registered in London and largely backed with British capital and expertise. The castings and forgings for its engines were made in Sheffield were taken to France for assembly, chiefly to avoid French opposition to foreign built motors. Most of its products were watercooled 90° V-8 engines, hence the acronym ENV (or E.N.V.) for "en-V" or "in a V". The company did build at least one motor not en-V, a horizontally opposed engine.

A decision was made in 1909 to produce engine type D and F in the UK from a company called E.N.V. Motor Syndicate Ltd. based at Willesden, London.

A: Paris show 1908 engine? Lumsden has this as "their first engine". If so, 100x130 50 hp V-8 C: D:* 85x90, 35-40 hp V-8, "new" Oct 1909 F:* 105x110 60-80 hp V-8 FA:

A horizontally opposed engine and a 100 hp V-8 engine (for airships and boats) are mentioned as new in Flight 5/11/10; both later than F.
