Organizations concerning the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community[edit]

1. Rainbow of Hong Kong (香港彩虹)[edit]

It is the first LGBT Community Centre in Hong Kong which concerns the quality of life of the minorities. It holds numerous activities such as the annual Hong Kong Pride Parade, workshops and karaoke gathering to provide equal opportunities for the community. ^[1]

2. Equal Opportunities Commission (平等機會委員會)[edit]

The new chairman York Chow Yat-ngor said an objective of his tenure is to urge the government to enact legislation of sexual orientation discrimination. There will be public consultations and strengthened communication with the government to ensure gays enjoy equal rights. ^[2]

3. Big Love Alliance (大愛同盟)[edit]

Founded by come out legislative council members and celebrities, it protects basic rights for the LGBT and reduces public bias on homosexuality. They believe that all men are created equal and one’s sexuality should be accepted. ^[3]

4. Rainbow Action (彩虹行動)[edit]

It specializes in non-violent moves to fight for human rights for sexual minorities in Hong Kong like setting up the Sexual Orientation Discrimination Legislation Front in 2013. ^[4]

5. The Society for Truth and Light (明光社)[edit]

This organization strongly opposes same-sex marriage and legislation on sexual orientation discrimination as it will affect the development of social structure and teenagers’ growth. ^[5]
