The Gradual Demise of Phillipa Finch is an Australian animated television series broadcast by Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and produced by Hopscotch Productions. It is shown on both ABC1 and ABC2.

Concept[edit]

The Gradual Demise of Phillipa Finch tells the story of the emotionally dead Phillipa Finch, who is suffering after two decades of failed relationships. Her emotional limbo allows her the time to view how she died and more importantly, how to resurrect. In the meantime, she becomes a Pin-Up girl for the emotionally thwarted.

History[edit]

The Gradual Demise of Phillipa Finch is the brainchild of well known Sydney based author and illustrator Emma Magenta, whose previous books include The Perils of Magnificent Love and A Gorgeous Sense of Hope. Magenta had never considered animation until she was approached by Hopscotch Films executive Rachel Okine, an executive with Hopscotch Films who saw great potential is Emma's work to be developed into a tv series [1]. Together with Executive Producer Sally Chesher, the team spent nearly two years developing the concept.

One of Australia's most treasured performers, multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winner Toni Collette, voices Phillipa Finch.

On the 14th of Febuary 2011, the series debut on ABC1 screening the first two episodes, Prologue, Phillipa Finch is Dead and There is No Santa. The show continues to screen until early April in conjunction with ABC2.
