Jean Inness (born Jean Spurney,[1] circa 1900 - December 27, 1978) was an American actress on film, stage, and television.

Early years[edit]

Inness was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the Academy of Dramatic Arts.[2]

Career[edit]

Inness's career began on stage when she joined the Stuart Walker Stock Company in 1920.[2]

Inness appeared in 22 films, including I'd Climb the Highest Mountain (1951), Mrs. Mike (1949), Rosemary's Baby (1968), and The Story of Ruth (1960).[2]

On television, Innes played Nurse Sain in the NBC medical drama Dr. Kildare (1961).[3]

Personal life[edit]

In December 1927, Inness married actor Victor Jory in Burns, Wyoming.[1] Their son, Jon Jory, is a theater director.[2]

Death[edit]

On December 27, 1978, Inness died at her home in Santa Monica, California, at age 78.[2]
