Winston the Pigeon, "South Africa's most famous pigeon"[1] and possibly the world's most famous pigeon, raced and beat an ADSL line in South Africa on 9th September 2009. Winston transported a 4GB micro SD card of information faster than the ADSL line over an 80 kilometre route from Howick to Hillcrest.[2]
The Idea is Hatched[edit]
The Unlimited[1], a financial services company in South Africa, faced a problem of transferring data quickly between 11 of its call centres throughout Kwa-Zulu Natal and its main head office in Hillcrest.
