Disc golf course

A disc golf course is a series of holes, each of which has at least one tee area, a fairway, and a target, and is designed for the sport of disc golf. Most disc golf courses have 18 holes, although many have only 9 and some have as many as 24 or 27. It is similar in key respects to a golf course but different in many ways as the sport is played by throwing a flying disc instead of hitting a golf ball with a golf club. Holes can be any length. Some are as short as 160' and some as long as 1,200', although most are 200-500' in length. Disc golf courses are generally far less manicured than golf courses, often designed and built utilizing very rough terrain. There are more than 3,000 golf courses in the United States, as compared to about 15,000 golf courses.
