[3] BHAJAZZ is an Indo-Western fusion of Bhajans jazzed up and served chilled! In 2004, Renu recorded her first Sacred Fusion album called ‘BHAKTI JUNCTION Vol. 1’ which was co-arranged by the famous Czech TV star and acclaimed musician, Petr Kroutil. An accomplished jazz musician, playing Saxophone and Clarinet, Petr also plays the Indian Bansuri – a distinct accomplishment for a Western musician. Also known as Pete Mctwister, Petr has been band leader for several Swing orchestras in Europe; attended the noted Berkeley School of Music in Boston; and studied Bansuri at the University of Nepal.

BHAJAZZ[edit]

The name BHAJAZZ derives from the Indian word “Bhajans” for Devotional or Sacred music and the Western genre of JAZZ. Renu sings devotional music in a variety of languages with graceful ease (including in Hindi, English, Sindhi and Spanish). Petr’s skillful, soulful accompaniment creates an uplifting groove to the listening experience. Playing always to packed audiences wherever they perform, Bhajazz has broadened its repertoire to incorporate Sufi and traditional Hindi bhajans. BHAJAZZ is: Renu on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Petr on Saxophone, Clarinet, Bansuri. Associated instrumentalists are from UK, India and the Czech Republic. Other instruments often used in Bhajazz are tablas, drums, bass guitar, piano, keyboards, percussion.
