Pandunath Devalaya The city of Guwahati, formerly known as Pragjyotishpur and also known as Kamakhya Kshetra, has the unique distinction of being associated with both the epics of Hinduism - the Ramayana through Sage Vasishtha and the Mahabharata through Pandavas.

Pandu Suburb town of Kamrup metro has derived its name from the Pandunath Devalaya.

The Devalaya is situated On Varah Hills, West of Nilachal parvata the Abode of Maa Kamakhya (Famous Kamakhya Temple), on the southern bank of Holy River Brahmaputra AND a specific location called as BRAHMA KUND.

The 10th AD religious scriptures, Kalika Puran & Yogini Tantra, states about the Religious significance of The Pandunath Devalaya. There is a believe that Lord Vishnu killed two Asuras “Madhu and Kaitava” at this spot and Varah Avtar of Lord Vishnu has taken the rupa of The Pandunath as a shila (rock form)

The scriptures note that in Dwapar yuga Panch Pandava, during their Agyatwas (exile), has visited this place and consecrated The VIGRAH of SIX GANESHA (Idols) here, with the help of Lord Vishwakarma.

These Six Ganesha togeather are known as “Pandavnath”. The Devalaya credits with “Vishnu Shila”, Two incarved images of “SUN & MOON”, and lot of ancient deities relics, Stones with engraved write ups in unknown languages, which were found during the excavation of the site for renovation work.

Devalaya has special attraction for visitors & Tourists:

(link Video) • Beautiful Dolphins & Chital fish View. • Amazing Sunrise and sunset view in backdrop of the river (link video) • View of Saraighat bridge, the place which has Historical value of “Saraighat war between Mughal and Ahom kingdom” (link Video) • An opportunity to take a dip in the Holy Brahma kund. It is believed that one dip wash away all the sins of karmic life. • Visiting Spritually enlightened persons talks a lot about the postive vibration of the place. • Peace & Tranquility prevails with a jump in meditation here. • The Devotees & tourists are never harassed here for Dakshina & donations.
