James Richard Adams

James Richard Adams (born 1980 in Leicester, UK) is an ultra runner and blogger living in London. His irreverent, inspiring and brutally honest accounts of his ultra-running adventures have won him a large number of followers across the English-speaking world.

James ran his first ultra, the 45 miles from Tring to Town, in January 2007. In May 2008 he completed the Grand Union Canal Race, one of the UK’s most iconic ultra distance footraces covering 145 miles from Birmingham to London. Other significant races on his CV include the 300k "Run the Moose" 6 day ultra through Canada, the Marathon Des Sables in 2009, the GUCR again in 2009, Spartathlon in 2009 and 2010. In July 2010 he achieved a longstanding ambition to complete the Badwater Ultramarathon.

In June 2011 James went to America to take part in the Los Angeles to New York Footrace – his biggest challenge to date. Whilst attempting to cover the 3220 miles in 70 days (45 miles a day average), he is also maintaining a detailed daily blog giving a unique insight into this epic challenge. Extracts from his blogs have been serialised in The Daily Telegraph.

James has been Honorary Secretary of the Serpentine Running Club since 2010.
