Ok people. The situation in Hong Kong is escalating and we need to be keeping an eye on this. If anybody remembers watching Tiananmen Square unfold from April to June of 1989, this is without doubt Xi Jinping's Tiananmen.

Hong Kong is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time/16 hours ahead of Pacific. Presently, it is 9:12pm Tuesday, November 19 there.

There could be as many as 600 protesters inside the Polytechnic University (PolyU) campus Student Union building in downtown surrounded on all four corners by the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (PAP).

This assault has in turn been met with civilians surrounding the PAP from an even greater downtown perimeter, in an effort to distract and draw them away, and allow the protesters to escape.

I cannot overstate the significance of these developments.

All of this is not going to end well, say academics who make it their lives to study the Chinese Communist leadership. We cannot allow a repeat of the repressive, propagandist measures taken by China in the aftermath of Tiananmen. If this does not upend his premiership, we need to make sure Xi Jinping pays. Diplomatically. Economically. Politically.
