Shattered Realm

Shattered Realm is a hardcore group from New Jersey. They have been active since 2000, putting out 2 full-length CD's on Eulogy Recordings, one 5-song EP on War Machine Records, and a split-cd with FL's Toetag.

Formation

Started in 2000, Shattered Realm formed to combat the idea and trend of a dead and dying New Jersey Hardcore Scene. Long gone were the staple clubs of the NJ scene (Studio 1, The Pipeline, The Stone Pony), and the bands to represent the anger and chaos long associated with New Jersey Hardcore (Fury of Five, Second to None, One4One, Clubber Lang).

Starting off as a group of friends, long active in the NJ scene, Eric Cooper, Chris Rafalowich (Downfall, Point Being), Danny Cahill (Point Being) and Chris Collins started practicing at the infamous Red Bank Rehersal Studios to try to bring their idea to life.

Pre-label History

Although the idea and drive were there in the beginning, the musical and songwriting talent lacked. After writing some songs and playing a few shows, the group replaced Danny with Alex Weissman (3rd Degree) on drums, and Added Alex Queller (With Blood on Our hands) on second guitar, both who were longtime friends of the group. After playing a few shows under that lineup, the band went in to record their first demo tape, titled "All Will Suffer." During the recording process, some problems arose, and Chris Rafalowich ended up replacing Chris Collins on vocals.

The band started playing the recording to friends, one of which was Joe None, from then defunct NJ band Second to None. Joe saw the potential in the band, and joined to fill in the missing second guitar slot. After writing a few more songs, and re-writing some older songs, the band played their first show with this lineup at the Killtime in Philadelphia, PA with Shutdown, Clubber Lang and Redline. The show was, as expected with the dmeo circulating, complete chaos. Word quickly spread of the band and the energy they bring, and the name Shattered Realm started blowing up throughout the hardcore scene. They continued bringing their energectic, violent live show to clubs up and down the east coast, sharing the stages with such acts as Hatebreed, S.O.D, & Killswitch Engage.

War Machine Records (2001)

The band was approcahed by longtime friend Joe Nine Iron (whos Nine iron Distro was a staple of the NJ hardcore scene for years), about a record label he was starting, called War Machine Records. Joe wanted the band to re-record the All Will Suffer demo tape and add some songs to be released by War Machine Records. Knowing Joe and his reputation throughout New Jersey, the band agreed, and soon started the recording with Vince Ratti of Skylight Studios in Bensalem, PA. The recording was finished, and a cd release show was set up.

The "All Will Suffer" EP's record release show was booked with the touring Eulogy Records Showcase, featuring Until The End, This Day Forward and Keepsake. The show was booked at Club Krome (formely Club Bene), in September of 2001. The show was sold out, and Shattered Realms performance will go down in history as one of the most fun, energetic and violent shows in the history of the club. The performace and crowd reaction caught the interest of Eulogy Recording Owner/Until The End guitarist Jon Wylie.

Eulogy Recordings (2001-Present)

The band soon signed a 2 record deal with the Florida based Label Eulogy Recordings (Evergreen Terrace, Dashboard Confessional, Bury Your Dead), and went into the studio to begin writing what will be their first full length cd.
