Djandji Akbar Zahiruddin Tandjung (born 14 August 1945) is an Indonesian politician of the Golkar political party, who served as the speaker of the People's Representative Council (DPR) from 1999 until 2004. Prior to serving in the DPR, he served as the Chairman of Golkar from 1998 until 2004, and as a minister in the cabinets of president Suharto and B. J. Habibie. Born to an ethnic-Batak Muslim family, he was the thirteenth child of sixteen children. He attended the University of Indonesia, and was active in the university's student organizations. In 1977, Akbar to stood for election in the legislative elections, representing the province of East Java. He was elected, and he took office on 1 October 1977.

He served in the body until 1988, when he was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports by Suharto. In 1993, Akbar was transferred to the post of Minister of Housing, replacing Siswono Yudo Husodo. In the aftermath of Suharto's fall from power in 1998, ...
