Kanchi Manimozhiar

Kanchi Manimozhiar was born in Kanchipuram, which is located in NorthEast part of the state TamilNadu in India. The first part of the name 'Kanchi' is the short form of Kanchipuram, the place that Manimozhiar was born and spent the early part of his life. Manimozhiar was a Tamil Scholar, Social Reformer, Politician. He had dedicated 50+ years of his life in social work.

Early Life

Kanchi Manimozhiyar - was born on 09.05.1900 in Kanchipuram, as the last son of Perunagar Chengalvaraya Mudaliar. His father was a Tamil scholar and yarn merchant.[2]. Studied at Pachaiyappan school in Kanchipuram. His wife is Abhirami Ammaiyar. They had two sons and a daughter - eldest son Prof. Ma. Ilanchezhiyan, the younger son Ma. Natarajan who was a civil contractor and daughter Ma. Tamil Selvi, was a high school teacher. N. Ilavarasu  his grandson, and N. Kalaichelvi, N. Thenmozhi, N. Vasanthi's  are 3 grand daughters. He belonged to Senguntha Kaikola Mudaliar community.[3] In the 1962 Tamil Nadu State elections, he was elected as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, contesting on behalf of the DMK from the Thiagaraya Nagar Assembly constituency.[4] [5] [6]
