Tyler Reese Mehlenbacher (born September 30th, 1993) is an American record producer, musician and engineer.[1] Most notably he is know for his work with Kendrick Lamar ("Auntie Diaries," "Mirror,") and SZA ("Garden (Say It Like Dat)").


Reese began his professional career as half of the production duo The Donuts with Sergiu Gherman.[2][3] The duo was taken under the wing of prominent record producer Bekon in 2017. Reese worked with Bekon and Gherman until striking out on his own in 2022.[4]

Early Life[edit]

Tyler Reese Mehlenbacher was born September 30th, 1993 in Kennewick Washington. The majority of his youth was spent in Richland, Washington where he studied various instruments before falling in love with Jazz music through means of the trumpet and an extraordinary middle school band teacher. Reese graduated high school in 2012 and attended Berklee College of Music for two years before dropping out due to rejection from the schools Electronic Production and Design major.[5]

Career[edit]

Reese's first major label placement was with SZA, "Garden (Say It Like Dat)", on her album CTRL.[6] In 2019 as The Donuts, alongside Rich Brian, Bekon and Sean Miyashiro, he executive produced Rich Brian's album The Sailor.[7] Also in 2019 he produced two tracks for H.E.R. ("Fate," and "Lord is Coming,") on her album I Used to Know Her.[8][9] In 2020 he produced three tracks (Ew," "Gimme Love," and "High Hopes,") for Joji on his album Nectar.[10] In 2022 he produced two tracks ("Auntie Diaries" and "Mirror,") on Kendrick Lamar's Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers.[11][12]


Reese composed music for the film You People, starring Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill.[13]
