I’m Thomas Phinney, a typographer and type designer. I am CEO of FontLab, the font tools company, and consult for clients worldwide about fonts and typography.

From 1997-2008 I worked in the type group at Adobe Systems, and from 2009-2014 I was at Extensis. Particular typographic interests include OpenType and American Type Founders. My great-grandfather George R. Lawrence has a nice Wikipedia page.

I've made hundreds of contributions to Wikipedia. In November 2015 I decided that I was going to leave and take a lengthy break, perhaps permanent, as the entire process had become too frustrating. In October 2017 I returned to just nose about a little.
