Belgrave is a pop band from Montreal, Canada. The band consists of Trevor Boucher on vocals, his brother Liam Boucher on keyboards, their cousin Catherine Cere on violin, Michael Bufo on guitar and Jonathan Powter on drums.[1]
Musical career[edit]
After a number of years on hiatus from a previous musical project, members Trevor and Liam Boucher, Michael Bufo, and studio drummer Jonathan Powter invited Catherine Cere to join forces in September of 2009 to form Belgrave (then known as Coral Red). In March of that year both the Sam Roberts Band and Belgrave were invited to support a Loyola High School's Battle of the Bands fundraiser. Belgrave performed at intermission while Sam Roberts Band performed an hour long surprise act to cap off the evening.[2] During their performance, Belgrave drew the attention of producer Joseph Donovan who invited them to support his band Receivers in May of that same year. The reviews were positive and Donovan arranged to produce the band that summer. [3]
Belgrave is managed by Brian Traynor of Roadtrip Management and are currently in Joseph Donovan's Mountain City Studio working on their first studio EP, due out early 2011.
Influence[edit]
The band draws much of its influence from Montreal musician Pietro Amato. Three of Belgrave's band members (Trevor Boucher, Liam Boucher, and Catherine Cere) are first cousins with Amato. Their previous band The Beds performed with Amato's bands Torngat and The Luyas. Cere's sister Kristen Cere is a world class dancer and choreographer.[3] Other influences include among others: Billy Collins, Our Lady Peace, Bob Dylan, The Doors, The Beatles, and Sam Roberts Band.[4] Belgrave has been compared to The Smiths, The Dears, and Arcade Fire.

- Performed alongside Sam Roberts in support of Loyola High School's Battle of the Bands in March of 2010.
- Belgrave and The Coast supported Scotland's We Were Promised Jetpacks on their North American stop in Montreal in July of 2010. [6]
