Categories[edit]

Hi Tristan, good work on all the new division and brigade articles you've been creating. One thing you might want to note is that if you add [[Category:British Army brigades]], [[Category:British infantry divisions]] or [[Category:British World War II divisions]] etc to the bottom of the page it adds the article to the relevant category, helping other users find the pages. Oh, and welcome to the Military History Wikiproject as well. Leithp 13:30, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

No problem. Give me (or any of the other Military history Wiki-project guys) a shout if you have any questions. A few useful links, if only to glance over or refer to if you have a question, are Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Naming conventions (military units) and Wikipedia:Category. British military history task force[edit]

Welcome to the British military history task force. I see that you are interested in British Army units 1939-45. I have been working on histories of Essex Regiment and Essex Yeomanry. If you come across any information for those articles, please let me know. Thanks! Please see my user page for details of articles I am working on. Davidbober 14:35, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

RE:Thanks[edit]

No problem at all. I was checking back to see if someone else has replied to the coat of arms discussion and I noticed it was gone, so I looked at the page's history (alt-h) and saw that someone had blanked it over while making another response. -- Миборовский U|T|C|M|E|Chugoku Banzai! 23:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

130 Bde[edit]

I did a little expansion of your new 130 Bde article. For the WW1 history of British brigades, www.1914-1918.net is probably useful. It will certainly give the pre-December 1914 names and the same sort of info you seem to have for WW2 service. Off the top of my head, I can't think of an easy way to tell if bdes in WW1 and WW2 had any relation (probably they did in the areas where divs were duplicated and maybe not where they weren't (43/45, 49/46, 54/18 and 55/59 divs I think). Post-WW2 info is hard to come by on the internet but I have a TA OOB for 1947 if you want a copy. Best of luck and if you are ever stumped, let me know. I have a fair bit of British WW1/WW2 OOB info lying around. Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:12, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Reply[edit]

Being a newby I only just discovered my user page and saw your message. Thanks for the kind words but I don't think I want to commit formally to the project. However, when I have the time I will continue to contribute. My late father was a wartime officer in the 1 BN (PWO Sikhs) Frontier Force Regiment and held staff posts in both the Indian 8 Div and 10 Div so in wading through the jumble I am coming up with some intersting stuff Kirrages 12:23, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Not sure whether this is the right place Tristan, but anyway.. thanks for your note about the current British Army formations. I'd like to merge some of the pages for various divisions - the 5th is the worst, with three seperate pages - but I'm too new, it seems; can you take a look? Buckshot06
