Marchal UJEKU

Marchal Ujeku is a Rwandan Music Artists is a Rwandan Citizen born and raised in Rusizi District and Nkombo sector at Nkombo Island. He is a Rwandan musician, artist, songwriter, and serial entrepreneur and above all, an initiator and creator “Godfather” of Nkombo style, an exclusive music genre, that promotes culture and music rhythms from Nkombo Island. He founded a culture music label Culture Empire.

His passion, enthusiasm and a love for music astoundingly started at an early age. When Marchal UJEKU was 8 years old, he officially debuted his music career and joined a cultural music troupe called “Abasamyi ba Nkombo.” 2 years later, when Marchal UJEKU turned 10 years old, still at Nkombo Island, he joined a catholic religious singing choir called “Tuvugururwe na Roho Mutagatifu.”

Time arrived when Marchal UJEKU had to leave Nkombo Island for academic educational purposes in joining secondary school, after finishing his primary level of education at Ecole Primaire Bagumira. While in secondary school, he ceaselessly continued his music passion and joined Amis des Jeunes orchestra. While in secondary school, he was involved in other extra-curricular activities such media club, entertainment and health clubs. His academic involvement in secondary level of education, is diversified in many schools such as Ecole Secondaire Muhehwe, Groupe Scolaire APPEMI and Groupe Scolaire Saint Joseph ABADAHINYUKA, all in Rusizi and Nyamasheke District, the western region of Rwanda whereas he also pursued his university level of education in both Makerere University (Uganda) and Mount Kenya University (Kenya).

Professionally, his music career started in 2016, with his first song hit entitled “Bombole Bombole.” He has as well released a bunch of culture songs and sang songs for international organizations such as World Health organization in its campaigns to fight against HIV/AIDS, cholera among many others. He also released songs for UNICEF advocating and creating awareness of children's rights. He has worked tremendously with Gender Promotion Non profit organizations both foreign and locals.

Not only his music performances in Rwanda soil only, but also in foreign countries such as attending music festivals in Africa especially Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana and Democratic Republic of Congo among many others. For many years in a row, he has as well performed in music festivals such as KigaliUp, Umuganura and many others.
