Memphis ( UDig ) Jookin Academy[edit]

Memphis (UDig) Jookin Academy vision was brought to life in December 2006 by native ^[1] Memphian Mr. Tarrik Moore due to his passion for dance and eagerness to help the youth. With a goal to reach out to the youth and young adults in Memphis interested in dance and its positive attributes, Moore began reaching out to fellow dancers who shared his passion for music, dance, and community involvement.

Memphis (UDig) Jookin Academy also provides dance education intervention programs to youth based organizations. ^[2] To date, the unique training offered by Memphis (UDig) Jookin Academy has provided professional dance instruction to over 7,500 youth and young adults in the south via KIPP Schools, Memphis City Schools, the Boys & Girls Club of Memphis, St. Francis Catholic School, and Hutchison School .

Memphis (UDig) Jookin Academy has been recognized globally for Memphis Jookin in the Paris, France in the JusteDebout Magazine. In 2009, U Dig Company Dancers was featured on So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing with The Stars, and BET 106 & Park, FreeSol & Justin Timberlake.^[3]

Most recently, dancers were the 2010 Nominees for Best Dance Choreography in the MTV Music Awards and Soul Train Music Awards for Bad Boy recording artist Janelle Monae “Tightrope” music video.
