Brief Intro[edit]

I am director of UK web Focus Limited, the name of my consultancy firm.

About the UKWebFocus Username[edit]

From 1996-July 2013 I worked at UKOLN and my job title was UK Web Focus. I have used that name for a number of social media accounts.

Engaging with the Wikimedia community[edit]

I created my first Wikipedia article, on Rapper Sword dancing, in 2004. I have created and edited a number of other articles since then including articles on Amplified conferences and Microattribution. I have written a number of blog posts about Wikipedia on my UK Web Focus blog.

Since 2013 I have sought to develop my expertise in Wikipedia. I attended the Queen Victoria's Journals University of Oxford editing day in order to gain a feel for how Wikipedia events were organised. I then supported Sphingonet Wiki workshop and attended the EduWiki 2013 conference.

Awards[edit]

I have received the following awards:

  • Information World Review's Information Professional of the Year, 2007 [1]
  • Best Research Paper, ALT-C conference, 2005 [2]
  • John Slatin Award for Best Communications Paper at the W4A 2010 conference [3]
