Brooklyn is a former African-American neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina which was demolished by urban renewal in the 1960s.

During the era of segregation, Brooklyn was the area where many African-Americans lived. Poor people lived next to rich people. Black-owned businesses included grocery stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and the Alexander Hotel where Count Basie stayed because it was the only place that would allow him. The neighborhood had black doctors, dentists, lawyers, churches, a library, a YWCA and a YMCA.^[1]

When the neighborhood was demolished, the people went to different parts of the city. In 2019, a development called Brooklyn Village is planned. Also located in the former Brooklyn are Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Marshall Park and the NASCAR Hall of Fame.^[1]
