Talk pages[edit]

Each Wikimedia account and article can have a talk page, where asynchronous typed messages can be exchanged. There are a variety of symbols you can use to indicate state of discussions.

Events[edit]

Wikimedians sometimes get together in person! These events might be an edit-a-thon, a meetup, or a Wikidojo, or they could be conferences, such as the yearly Wikimania.

Digital thanks[edit]

There are a number of different kinds of digital awards and even a WikiProject that aims to organize them.

"Thanks" notification[edit]

At the end of each change comment on an article's revision history has a "Thanks" link. Wikimedians can click on this link to send a simple notification to another Wikimedian.

Barnstars[edit]

Wikimedians can award barnstars to one other for anything they think is worth celebrating. There are many kinds of barnstars.

Read Wikimedian news[edit]

You can read about Wikimedia news on the Wikimedia blog or on Wikipedia Signpost, a "community-written and edited newspaper that covers stories, events, and reports related to the English Wikipedia."

Collaborate with other organizers[edit]

A group of local Wikimedians across the U.S. interact via a mailing list.
