Lisa Masson’s father, Dr. John (Jack) Watson Masson (1921-2000), was an internist and cardiologist who practiced for 54 years. He is known as a prototype inventor of the echocardiograph machine.[1] Two of Dr. John Masson’s uncles were lead physicians at the Mayo Clinic. Chief of Staff Dr. James C. Masson and Dr. Morrison Masson were trained directly by the Mayo brothers.[2] Lisa Masson's mother, Margaret Jean Masson, has been a registered nurse since 1949 [3] and is a practicing clinical psychologist.[4] Lisa Masson’s ex-husband, Dr. Joseph Johnny Provenzano, a family practice physician, sits on the California State Osteopathic Medical Board of Governors.[5]

She is certified in Epic Ambulatory, Adolescent Medicine, Sports Medicine and Family Practice.[6] Related to her certification in Sports Medicine, Masson is a USA Gymnastics Certified Judge (2006-).[7]

A primary care physician, Masson is frequently consulted on emerging topics in contemporary medical practice.[8][9] At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing she served as chaperon and on-call physician for the Olympic Orchestra.[10] In her role as Sutter Gould’s Co-Chair of the Ambulatory Clinical Design Management Team (2007-)[11] Dr. Masson participates in the “collaborative build” of global-reaching technology in the medical field.[12] [13] Masson is a columnist for the Modesto Bee, writing on topics ranging from physical health and mental well-being to driver training (see "Writings", below). A Regional Chairman of Educational Counselor’s for MIT, Dr. Masson “works with the Office of Admissions to recruit the best and brightest students for MIT's freshman class.” [14][15][16]
