Woodmai is a full time gardener. Influenced by Idries Shah, Eckhardt Toole and others, he tends his own garden as best he can.

Woodmai (who sometimes goes by the nom de plume Philo Greenwood) has been studying the works of the thinker, writer and Sufi teacher Idries Shah since 1974. Even though he studies the works of Idries Shah, that definitely does not mean that "he converted to Islamic Sufism" nor to "Sufi Islam"; he describes himself as spiritual though that term is starting to lose meaning. He grew up in the Roman Catholic faith; though some would consider him a lapsed Catholic. He practices Vipassanā meditation as taught by S. N. Goenka - so some might describe him as a Buddist. He is a fan of Eckhart Tolle and The Power of Now. As he would say: "it's complicated."
